Advice Needed on Integrating OpenEnergyMonitor with Cognos

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. I am currently exploring ways to integrate my OpenEnergyMonitor setup with IBM Cognos for better reporting and data analysis, and I’d love to hear your suggestions.

If you have experience with this integration, what are the best practices you’d recommend? Are there specific configurations, connectors, or tools that you’ve found helpful? I have done a bit of research and found these articles Integrating with HomeAssistant Cognos Tutorial useful but would love some guidance from the experts here.

Also, any tips on ensuring data accuracy and maximizing insights in Cognos would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @maxmartinez and welcome!

I don’t have any experience with IBM Cognos integration but would be interested to hear if you do manage to get something working and what kind of results you get!

Perhaps someone could link up HeatpumpMonitor.org data and extract insights across the many variables involved e.g New HeatpumpMonitor.org system list chart tool - #7 by TrystanLea

Interesting, is this in a professional capacity? I’d not expect anyone to be doing Cognos outside of an enterprise setting, and I assume you need a license for it (not aware of any free community edition).

FWIW I dabble in Cognos in my job (when I have to!), but if I was doing a personal project I’d probably use PowerBI for simplicity. Cognos seems a bit heavyweight for a bit of OEM reporting?
