Hoping someone can confirm what I’d like to do is correct.
I still have a pump and blending valve for my UFH, from when we had an oil boiler, controlled by a roomstat via a wiring centre.
Yes, I know it would be better without the pumpset but it’s where we are.
I’d like to get rid of said stat and wiring centre, so am I correct in saying that if I wire the UFH circulation pump directly to MA1 in the HPI, this will control the pump, switching it on/off, when there’s a demand for heating/cooling?
My understanding is that MA1 would more usually control a post buffer pump. We don’t have any of that, so MA1 is currently not used for anything.
Hi Barrie, Thanks for the pictures of your system. Not sure how to phrase my question so please bear with me if it is not clear. Does MA1 provide power over the ‘on’ period when the Vaillant app is set for the heat pump to be operating e.g. 6am to 10am or just when the heat pump is actively delivering heat during the ‘on’ period.
MA1 provides constant power, except when the control drops in to Eco. eg. if you’re using Expanded and above target, or if you have setback mode as Eco.
If you’re using Active or Inactive, and setback Normal, it will have power all the time. Doesn’t make any difference if you’re in manual or timed.
