I am new to this solution and am looking for some help in setting up the emonCMS part. I hope I can explain it with enough information.
I have just installed an emonPi2 (emonSD-01Feb24) and followed the wifi connection steps, I managed to connect it to my wifi network (which currently contains a “-”, not sure if this is still an issue looking at some older posts?) and shows as connected when browsing to 192.168.42.1.
When I click to Continue to EmonCMS login I am then not presented with a Register option, only login. At this stage I had not created an account yet. I tried the default details included in the setup guide but this states no account exists.
I have tried this both on the local emon AP (192.168.42.1) and my IP (192.168.1.110) but both have the same result.
I am now stuck as to how to progress with the setup as I can’t get any further. Is there anything I can try? Would connecting via Ethernet allow me to register an account or would I end up with the same result?
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. If I need to provide further information please let me know.
“emonsd” and its password isn’t the same thing as your user account with emonCMS.
The absence of the “register” facility would suggest it’s already got the primary (and normally the only) user account already.
How comfortable are you with accessing your emonPi with SSH? If you are, connect (WiFi should work as it’s already connected.) and log in. The password for this is the one you tried: user = emonsd and pwd = emonpi2016
If you can’t initially connect with SSH, use the front panel button on the emonPi to cycle round the menu and check that it’s enabled - and enable it if necessary.
Before trying the SSH route, which I’m not sure would have solved my issue because I didn’t know the username to reset the password for (unless I have misunderstood), I’ve spent the morning searching all documentation/ paperwork as I was adamant I haven’t registered a local account and have been doubting my sanity.
In case it’s of use to anyone else. The paperwork provided with the hardware has the default user account/ password as ‘emonhp’ but the online documentation stated ‘emonsd’. I can confirm after trying the ‘emonhp’ it has allowed me into EmonCMS and I can see the inputs etc.
Not sure if this is worth investigating/ updating the online documentation to prevent any confusion? Or maybe I was looking in the wrong place.
I’ll carry on with the setup steps and hopefully I won’t need to ask for any further support. I do really appreciate the support offered so quickly yesterday.
