Samsung R32 ASHPs - when is a defrost not a defrost?

In a reference from @SarahH in another channel, I came up with a rather aggressive but possible software solution:

@Michal_S My idea is not to disable DHW operation, but to disable the DHW circuit at all. Meaning the controller won’t even think there is a 3 way valve, and therefore won’t try to operate it. I’m not sure if the valve position will be operated when the DHW circuit is “unpresencified”. The key concept here is that the ASHP does not forcefully have a DHW circuit builtin. Translation in NASA world, it would mean to turn FVS#3011 to 0 instead of 1 or 2 (depending on your setting). And only turn th…

The goal is to disable DHW support (not simple enablement) and have a schedule for DHW heating. As for myself, I’m only heating DHW @ 3pm. to compensate it a bit with the sun (PV installation here). We tend to take our showers in the evening. But that could totally be adapted and even scripted if the DHW temps gets too low.

In the hope it could somewhat address your problem until Samsung comes with a solution.
