Samsung controller measures higher indoor temperature

Hi, newbie here and 3 weeks into a new Samsung R290 Mono install. I notice from your photo how high the indoor temperature is. My controller reads high, by about 3°C compared to three other independent devices, two trusted thermostats and a thermocouple (thermometer). I suspect that the unit itself is generating heat. The illuminated panel is permanently lit, but does dim when not actively using the control buttons. I suspect that the light is warming the air inside the controller. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to disable the light when not using the buttons? Can the thermostat be calibrated to account for this?

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

We have seen this effect happening on Daikin systems, so it’s certainly possible.

I don’t know if the light can be turned off on the Samsung. Hopefully another member knows more about that system.

Alternatively, you might be able to set an adjustment in the settings.

My Samsung controller seems to read the correct temperature compared to other temperature sensors I’ve got. I keep the backlight on all the time, but I have turned off the white LED. It’s maybe due to where your unit is located?

You can calibrate the indoor room sensor under Service Mode > Indoor Zone Option > Room Temp Calibration

Yes, you can set the display timeout in the Settings > Option > User Mode > Wired Remote Controller > Display Settings > Screen Saver

You can also turn off the white LED on the controller

I think it’s not possible to turn off backlight completely on wired controller MWR-WW10N.
