Replacing 9kW Daikin with 8kW - best way to update Emoncms?

Hello,
Our 9kW Daikin Altherma is being replaced this week with an 8kW as the 9’s oversized. We track the system on Emoncms & publish to HeatPumpMonitor so was wondering what the best way of handling the change in system is?

Strikes me that the options are probably to either 1) create & publish a new system to keep the stats separate or 2) publish the 8kW’s data to the existing system, update the system name/size etc and just note when the pumps were swapped?

Obviously keen to be able to compare the two systems but going forward somewhat more interested in logging data from the new.

Any thoughts appreciated!

I went with #2, just for an easy life to be honest. However my SCOP is going to take a while to properly represent the 8kWs performance. Though I have been logging daily COPs separately for my own benefit.

But ideally it would have been nice to create a new system and see it from new.

It would be really nice to have a unit swap function in emoncms that you could just enter the swap date and it does the rest for you, seperating the data but us Daikin swappers are likely a minority.

The data from my swap day is awful as the shelly was still feeding power info in but I didnt start seeing heat data until I had had a chance to reconnect ESPAltherma after the installers had left. In hindsight I should have shut all logging down for the whole swap day.

Thanks - if I end up with enough time to sort, think I might just create a new system… feels like it may be the simplest way to keep it all separate and preserve the 9kW’s data for the moment to compare. Can’t see I’m going to get much value from keeping the data it longer term but would be useful to have a before/after view.

Had a look over my ESPAltherma config earlier - seems to be much the same for the 4-8 & 9-16 units so hoping I don’t need to do much more than remember to retrieve the device and plug it back in on the 8… am sure nothing’s going to be quite that straightforward with this however!

Be aware of the leaving water temp attribute and double check you have the correct spellings for everything.

Thanks! My current config’s using R2T from the looks of things. Pretty sure the 8kW has a BUH fitted (edla08e2v3) - will see what gets reported once it’s up and running.

There are some minor differences in the .h include files, some of which indicate different registers are used. I suspect you aren’t using those, but might be good to check…
