Possible solution to Cumulative totals resetting

Continuing the discussion from Correcting cumulative kWh reset with post process module:

@TrystanLea - can you look at this please?

Thanks @borpin I will look at this!

Hi both,

I am sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I am experiencing exactly the same issue on two EmonPi2s.

Its happening for a third time now, on both, after a power outage.

Above are the component versions i am running, this is on a Pi02w

Any pointers will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

@TrystanLea - bit of a long standing issue this one.

What would allow users to mitigate the effect of this would be to provide a “Add a constant offset to data in the window” to the editor in Visualisations. “Multiply data in the window” is fine for solving the problem it’s intended to, but the only other tool is to modify each data point individually, which is a practical impossibility if the period is more than a few minutes (at most data rates) - and the editor doesn’t work consistently/properly/intuitively for me anyway.

I’ve mentioned this a few times now - but no response from @TrystanLea

There’s an issue here with resetting Wh values coming from the emonPi2/emonTx5 that is a new issue that I’ve only become aware of recently. The EEPROM should save and recover the Wh value after a power cycle but I must have missed something, perhaps in the more recent firmware update that I did. I need to look into this.

The interim fix is to use Power to kWh input processes on the power values coming from the emonPi2/Tx5.

Yes and no. This fix in emoncms still needs applying I believe as I see resets. I don’t rely on the data logging for this reason.
