What is the difference between v1 and v2? And which should I use?
Also can I connect the board via the onboard micro usb and flash it using that using esptool on my computer?
All went well flashing via the onboard micro USB with esptool and I like the v2 GUI
Also managed to get an ethernet cable up to the charger so no more random wifi drops
Hello,
I am attempting to convert my OpenEVSE to ethernet (V5.5 board) and I am having some issues. All the current guides seem to be referencing older boards and the link to the photo of the new board is missing. I have installed the pre-compiled firmware with esp-tool. As a temporary solution I am powering the board over usb and I have the tx and rx wires spliced into the cable going between the screen and the EVSE controller. Do I have something installed wrong?
I’ve got 2x openevse units using ethernet
the oldest one is running wifi 4.1.0 and openevse FW 7.1.3.T2
The slightly new one wifi 4.1.3 and openevse FW 8.2.0.T2
Both are on a ‘e’ revision.
Looking to update them to remove some bugs relating to not ending cheap rate (timed) charge correctly.
Can I update to the latest greatest wifi 5.1.2 - it only mentions rev ‘f’ board
or should I only go as far as 4.1.7 as on 4.2.2 it mentions updating the Openevse firmware >=8.2.3 (and I’ve not updated openevse firmware before / dont have the open evse programmer)
I’ve updated them as far as 4.1.7
Success on one unit (was 4.1.0)
the other unit (was 4.1.3) now just shows “Ready L2:32A 0Wh 5051kWh” and you can’t connect to it. But the update reported all was ok…
Looking at the thread I think my next action is to reload bootloader.bin and partitions.bin - and also 4.1.7 ‘F’ as I’ve discovered its on ‘G’ - any thoughts?
