Newbie - Hardware compability for emonTX v3

Hi,

I have a emonTX v3 connected to the solar panels, and I would like to build a Raspberry Pi based monitoring hub. My understanding is that I will need the following hardware:

  • Raspberry Pi (with SD card)
  • 433MHZ receiver

My questions are:

  • which version of Raspberry Pi do I need for emonBase? Is it Raspoberry Pi 4?
  • Will emonTX v3 work with the latest emonBase?
  • On the receiver side, I was planning to buy “RFM69SPI 433Mhz Transceiver”, but that is out of stock. Is " JeeLink RFM69CW to USB Transceiver 433Mhz" would be good for me?
  • And if yes, which firmware do I need to order JeeLink with? Standard (RF encryption) or Existing hardware compatibility (<2022)?

Please let me know if you need more info

Welcome, Balint, to the OEM forum.

Any, as far as I’m aware. The Pi 4 will clearly give the best performance.

Yes, but you might need to either upgrade the emonTx V3 to use the latest LPL radio protocol (the preferred route), or “downgrade” the software in the RFM69SPI to use the JeeLib radio protocol.

I don’t know, you need to check with The Shop (email [email protected])
