Have purchased the emonsd for the 11.5.7 version. Have installed and according to instructions " new SD card (and replace the end plate on the emonPi) & power up the device. Then wait, wait, wait, make a cup of coffee, wait, wait, wait… (lots of updates etc) - really do not rush this part it does take a while" I have now been waiting 1 hour now all I see on the little screen is “Booting…Please wait.” How long should I wait before I power down and restart???
It should only take a few seconds, if it takes longer than something’s not working right.
What version RaspberryPi do you have? It’s quite possible the new image is not compatible with older versions.
To be able to see what’s going on, you could connect a HDMI monitor to the RaspberryPi
Oh dear…I’ve put my original sd back into the unit and now it’s gone on the blink with “Booting…Please wait.”
I did manage to see on the screen for a moment Version 2.92
Arghh what do I do. I’ve turned it off for now
Depending on the Raspberry Pi you have, you need an HDMI to HDMI cable.
(If you have a RasPi 4, you need a micro HDMI to HDMI cable)
Ok great, you’ve got a Pi3. This should be supported.
It sounds like there’s a hardware fault with your RaspberryPi
Are you using the original power adaptor and supplied mini-USB cable?
Opened up the unit this morning and found out why the original sd failed. It’s been fried. see photo.
By the way the SD was definitely not in this condition when I reinserted it into the unit.
I’ve put it into a SD reader. my pc doesn’t see anything (wonder why ). Luckily I did my weekly backup before I started work on this. Anyway I’ve also put the new SD into the card reader and my PC does still read it.
@glyn.hudson can I send this in to you for a check to see what might have caused this and for you to install the new version 11.5.7 (compatible with Home Assistant). I wondering if this may have been the the reason for the problem I had with the emontxv3 that I sent to you late last month?
