I am trying to rescue my existing (old) system before upgrading and would like to obtain a copy of emonSD-26Oct17. I found that it is not available for download (even though it is listed in the emonSD download page) and the Open Energy Monitor team have informed me that they cannot supply as it is now unsupported. Can anyone help re supply? I am happy to buy a copy if it is available either as a download or on an SD card.
Is this what you want?
emonSD-26Oct17.img.zip It’s 1.4 GB, so I cannot realistically upload it anywhere.
It appears to be viable (I’ve extracted the 3.8 GB image without error). If you want to send me an SD card and return postage (how?), you can have it free of any other charge.
Hello @keithfromoz I will upload it back to our server now. Save you both the hassle!
At 350 kbps, it would have taken me a bit more than a minute (or two) to upload.
Many thanks to both Robert.Wall and TrystanLea. I would have sent an SD card with a SAE for return, but with Trystan making the legacy software available, I have now downloaded the software and am now in the throes of sorting out my old emonpi.
I would recommend that Open Energy Monitor consider allowing legacy copies of their software from their downloads page as there are several reasons why users might need them. I for one have obtained legacy copies of Apple operating systems (they are available), the most recent being required to enable use of an old 27” iMac as a monitor (it has a great screen, though outclassed as an iMac). These legacy downloads may well have warnings that they are not supported in any way – as per Apple - but they are of considerable value at times.
Again, thank you.
Off topic, but somewhat relevant, a little while ago I saw an advert from a printer ink manufacturer, saying NEVER update or allow your printer to update its software - because the “official” update may well brick it if you use a non-OEM ink.
I’m absolutely certain anything like that will never happen here.
Because of the way emoncms stores its data and that this has not really changed, importing your old system onto a new version shouldn’t be an issue. The import is not destructive so you can always do it the other way if it doesn’t work.
