Kinetos professional openEVSE Wallbox issues

Hello,

there was a german Company (Kinetos), which took the 3 Boards
(Mainboard , WIFI WT32, Power) on one circuitboard and produced it in China. The company is insolvent and nobody can help with it.

Now i have Problems with the Firmware on some Boxes and want to reflash it with original openEVSE Package.

As you can see in the pictures there are a few jumper pins for Programming and resetting.

Can anyone tell me or advise me how to use the Programmer?
I havn’t ordered it yet because i dont kow how to connect an use it correctly.

Is it easily working together after flashing or do i need thousends of hours and commands to get WIFI, RFID and Display working?
Or is it so special with these dip switches and so on, that an special programmed firmware is needed?

Maybe you have any ideas for my Problem.

Thanks

Helllo @Shockwave ,

I guess we share the same question, I believe I have the very same wall box sitting here.
Any progress yet at all? Thanks for the excellent pictures, though.
I am new to OpenEVSE so I any help is appreciated.

Not sure if it helps, but here is a picture with the current firmware of my box etc.

Maybe some of the more experienced can make sense of it.

Thanks,
PNT

HI @Shockwave ,

I assume that is post is also from you:

Unfortunately the form seem to be dead somehow. I tried to reply there as well but that has been days ago and sofar none of my comments showed up there.

Any idea why?

Thanks,
PNT

Hi PNT,

yes, i could save the Dump of the ESP32 (WT3-ETH01), where the website is stored.
I have one box with open evse 8.2.2 and want to transmit it to other boxes.
Now im trying to read and save the data from the LGT8F328P chip.
But seems to be tricky, there is now correct connection on the SWC and SWD Pins.

Yau can Flash “adafruit huzzah32.bin” but then you dont have RJ45 available.
The rest is working fine.
You can go back to Kinetos Dump with this Website:

Or with 8$ Programmer from Amazon.

If you need, i can send you the Kinetos Dump.

Hi Shockwave,

ok - just saw your post here. Promising and at the same time it seems to be stuck somehow.
I am totally new to this so I could not give any advice or good idea yet.

Am I correct, you flashed 8.2.2 yourself?
I would appreciate the dump.

Any luck with integrating it w. HA or EVCC?
I got HA but not sure how reliable that is.

Losing RJ45 ethernet does not seem a good idea. One of the point why I took interest in the box.
Mhmhm.

Thanks for your input!
PNT

Hi Shockwave,

I would appreciate the dump as well. Do you perhaps have a link or a brief description of exactly how the pins need to be connected for flashing?
I have a USB ESP8266 programmer here.

Any help would be appreciated.

Greetings from germany,

Hi Sebastian,
do you have used the box yet with a BEV?
I heard about issues with the wallbox not recognized by the car and vice versa.
Mine is just sitting as we do not have a BEV yet.

Thanks,
PNT

I also have the same box and it worked perfectly so far, until today. It stopped detecting my vehicle.

Before that it was working just fine, even configured it in HomeAssistant, but could not get charging current changing from HA to work. Now I am thinking of what to do now. Car is just fine as my mobile charger still charges. Will test the cable tomorrow and prepare to tinker with the box. Luckily I am certified electrican and can remove the box and do anything to it.

Would you advise on flashing OpenEVSE to it to revive it’s functionality? Will I only loose ETH connection? Right now in Kinetos firmware, ETH is the only thing that works. Wifi scans my AP, but does not connect.

My firmware versions are just the same. Probably bought from the same Ebay seller. The box is great and good quality and the cable is 32A for 16A charger. Charged almost 300kWh with it.

More info on issue:
I decided to learn about inner workings of chargers and must say that OpenEVSE has superb knowledge base about everything. There was 11,4V DC pilot and I decided to reset charger to defaults and try to trigger with resistors and diode and I got a detected car and contactor clack. Connected to a car and worked perfectly. I should investigate on reflashing firmware to OpenEVSE. Was just afraid to lose ethernet. I try to prefer ethernet instead of Wifi. Also, it looks like Kinetos are using separate 3PH energy meter on modbus connection and not a CT for measuring consumption.

Should I write down every parameter in “RAPI Get Commands” page, before trying to flash anything?

I will look if I have an AVR programmer somewhere.
Anyway, this is awesome resource and sadly I only found it after purchasing Kinetos, which is not a bad hardware for the money it costs on Ebay.

I’m glad to hear that you got your box working again.
If you do decide to flash OpenEVSE, it would be great if you could briefly describe exactly how you did it. Good luck!

Did you succeed in flashing OpenEVSE to the wallbox?
Would be great, if you could share your experience.

Thanks,
PNT

Nope, just ordered and received AVR programmer but couldn’t spare some time to backup everything and do a test flash.

Also, tested wifi, since ethernet will not work on OpenEVSE, and signal is quite sad.

Sifted through code and couldn’t find anything about modbus energy meter, that i have in that wallbox.

Hopefully, will do that before it gets freezing.
