Is anyone successfully using an iPad or iPhone to wirelessly access an OpenEVSE unit?

I can access my Wifi connected OpenEVSE unit reliably using a Win 10 PC or laptop with either a wired or Wifi connection. However, using an iPhone or iPad the connection is very flakey and it’s not just a signal level problem so I was wondering if anyone is doing this successfully?

I have never had a problem with this on an iPad, even when using a VPN when not home.
Are you using the latest WiFi SW on the EVSE?

It’s odd that I can access from a PC or Win laptop without problems which suggests to me that the OpenEVSE Wifi connection to hub is good.

Although I have seen this issue for several years it is just recently that I have realised the problem only applies to accessing the OpenEVSE from iPad or iPhone. Win 10 based machines do not show the same symptoms.

During the period of seeing this problem there have been many IOS updates and I have replaced the iPads and iPhones for newer units. The OpenEVSE software has been updated a few times but none of these changes appear to have made any difference. The only constant in this system is the BT Smart Hub 2 which I recently restored to factory settings which made no useful improvement.

There is no evidence to suggest the problem lies with the OpenEVSE given that it works fine when accessed from a PC.

I have considered converting the OpenEVSE to wired but there is no room in the box for another PCB module and I don’t think it will help anyway.

My work-around is to only access from a desktop PC but it would be great to understand and fix the problem.

Any experimental suggestion will be gratefully received as I am out of ideas.

Hi,

are you using Safari? Have you tried downloading Edge to see if that might work?
I assume the Apple devices are on the same WiFi network as the EVSE.

Yes, I am using Safari but have also tried Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Opera with identical results.
Edit: Apple devices are on the same Wifi network as the EVSE.
