Ideal Logic Air 10kW and transitioning from gravity fed system

Hi all,

I’ll soon be getting an Ideal Logic Air 10kW heat pump installed alongside a 250l cylinder with level 3 heat pump monitoring which i’ll be looking forwards to integrating in to HA.

It seems that Ideal heat pumps are pretty good however not particularly common, there are a few available on heatpumpmonitor. I don’t really see them discussed much at all…

We will be moving from a gravity fed vented cylinder to unvented. We currently have power shower (Triton TDPS1040) which I understand has a pump and would not be compatible with a vented as it’s designed to work at 1 bar. We don’t have any immediate plans to renovate the bathroom (although it needs it!) so I imagine we need to switch the Triton to a mixer shower and remove wiring. Are there any other gotchas to look our for when moving from gravity fed?

I appreciate showers and plumbing in general isn’t the key focus of this community but suspect a few of you would have been through a similar situation.

All unvented dwh tanks can easily be installed as vented.

However as the TDPS1040 is discontinued and will be hard to get parts, I would replace it with a bar shower and have unvented tank.

Rip it off the wall; dig a hole in the wall; bury a bar-mixer mounting plate in the wall (example below) and bodge the existing pipework into it; then buy one large tile, cut two holes in it, and surface-mount this over the resulting mess. Screw whichever standard bar mixer onto the end you like the look of. It’s quick and it will look neater than the power shower ever did. Redo properly as and when o do the bathroom.
