How to Determine if My Heat Pump is Oversized (No Heat Meter) Checking

I’m trying to figure out if my heat pump is oversized. I know that frequent cycling is one indicator, but I’m wondering if there are any other methods or solutions I can use to determine this without a heat meter.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @Alex9

A couple of questions:

  • What is the make, model and capacity of your heat pump?
  • What is the annual electricity consumption?
  • What was your previous gas/oil etc consumption?
  • What is the floor area and fabric of your house? Do you have the heat loss calculation that was used to assess the heat loss of the house?

You may find the post I wrote here about realistic heat loss assumptions useful https://trystanlea.org.uk/roombyroomheatloss
