I have just been reviewing my system settings on heatpumpmonitor.org and noticed that there are some new options/settings (also photos!) and also some corrections to make for my system.
Please can you clarify the following settings?
Includes indoor controller or other controls: I presume this means that the electricity used by the controls is captured by the MID electricity meter?
Includes indoor temperature sensing: I am less sure about this - mainly because it much consume such a tiny amount of energy?
Are these just informational or are they used in any way in calculations?
My system is here: HeatpumpMonitor.org
(next step for me is to get a second MID electricity meter for my Mixergy cylinder immersion heater)
Precisely that. This is one of the settings which helps indicate what “System Boundary” definition is being metered.
I’ve always treated this as just an indicator of whether the heat pump installation includes an indoor temperature sensor - irrespective of whether that is used as part of the control algorithm.
However, I’ve never previously spotted that it’s in the Metering section of the page - which does seem odd. I agree it would seem very strange for it to refer to the metering of the electricity usage of the indoor temperature sensor.
Maybe it could be moved to a different section of the page, to avoid giving the impression it’s specifically related to Metering.
