Gov Consultation - Smart and Secure Electricity System

Government has opened consultation for this, thought it would be of general interest given the topics here.

The first part is all around smart heating and battery storage, essentially should they all have metering/consumption reporting and integrate with smart grid etc.

Also talks about open standards…

I’ve responded to the first part with a few comments mostly concerning trying to get them to push for non-cloud only solutions. E.g. local network controls should be implemented if possible (in conjunction with cloud) for availability issues (esp. when manufacturers cease trading), privacy, consumer costs (avoiding cloud subscriptions) etc.

Also think it’s a big fail to focus on hydronic heat pumps and not included air to air…
