I have been running Havenwise with my 7kw Vaillant since last September. It has controlled the heat pump very well, efficiency has been very good. I have a large battery so don’t time-shift heating, I charge the battery off-peak to reduce grid demand, and benefit from cheap electricity.
Regarding the efficiency, the Vaillant controls do a good job on their own, much better than the Daikin I had before, so I’m not sure their is a big monetary saving for me, but I think (and my family agree), the house is a more even, comfortable and predictable temperature. Previously it would sometimes overheat (high solar-gain) or struggle to get to temperature (very windy and wet weather), resulting in tweaks the Weather-Comp curve. Now the temperature is always even. Havenwise seems to anticipate the weather to some extent.
I trialled Havenwise for a couple of weeks but it wasn’t for me. It seemed too aggressive and my 5kW Vaillant was often either running full power or idling. It also ran DHW at strange times, either the night before we needed the water (so it cooled overnight) or starting in the morning, too late and missing targets for water and heating. We were on a flat rate tariff at the time, so it wasn’t optimising for cost.
I prefer the Vaillant controls with some Home Assistant automations for weather and tariff tweaks.
