Emonpi Screen all #######

I have an original Emonpi running EmonSD-30Oct18 for the first time I used the button to scroll to the shutdown option and held it to activate shutdown. Previously I have just pulled the usb plug.

Now when i applied power the display is all ##########, but everything is still working.

I can still get reading via MQTT and still have ssh access. Rebooting has made no difference.

any thoughts.

TIA

Paul

Welcome, Paul, to the OEM forum.

You wrote you tried “rebooting” - do you mean rebooting the Raspberry PI only, without powering down? The display is partly controlled by the Atmel processor that does the power and energy measurements, so as explained in the FAQ, and this is not reset/restarted unless you power down. As a first step, I suggest you do a controlled shutdown (either via the button or the Admin page) then remove the power for a few moments, and see if it restarts correctly.

If it doesn’t, I’d suspect you’ve damaged the SD card or corrupted part of the software - most likely when you removed the power without shutting down - so immediately run a backup of your data, then replace the SD card and flash the latest version to it. You can restore your data to the new/latest emonCMS.

In any case, your SD card is 6 or 7 years old and might well be failing anyway, and it’s not related to shutting it down now.

Thanks Robert, As it turns out there was a broken wire inside from the display. I take your point about the sd card, so i will replace it anyway, However the downloads for the sd image seems to be broken.

P,

I just tried the latest on the list, and it started OK (I didn’t let it run and complete).

It might be a local cache you’re accessing, or a problem between the UK and you.

Thanks Robert,

I was trying to get the same version I had. but the links don’t work. I then tried the top one and that worked ok.
All sorted now.

Regards

Paul
