Archived visualisation module
You may notice that the Emoncms menu item Visualisations has now disappeared. The Graph module has long replaced most of the original intention of the Visualisations module, having both Graph and Visualisations next to each other in the menu is messy and confusing - especially given that most of the functionality is duplicated in both modules one way or another.
The visualisation module is still used by the Dashboard module and so I cant remove the code yet in it’s entirety. Some users may still wish to configure legacy multigraphs in dashboards rather than replace these with the saved graphs from the graph module.
So as a first step, I have hidden the visualisation module in the menu to start to discourage it’s use. If you do actually need to use it, it’s easy to enable it again for now from the My Account page, just place a tick in the show archived features box:
Feed Editor and Psychrometric Charts
As part of the process of moving towards being able to remove the visualisations module, I have moved and integrated the editor tool into the Graph module itself:
and moved the Psychrometric Chart tool developed by @alexandrecuer from Vis to an updated app:
Archived apps:
On opening the Available apps list many of the apps we’ve used historically are now hidden away in Archived apps:
For now it’s possible to expand the archived apps section to access these apps:
The new featured MyElectricFlow app is designed to replace: My Electric, My Electric 2, My Solar, My Solar Battery, My Energy and Octopus Agile. The other apps in archived either need updating as they use e.g fixed tariff costs from years ago or are a bit rough around the edges e.g the storage simulator I developed.
For now I’m keeping all of this in so as to provide a smoother migration process as other parts of Emoncms are updated - but ultimately I need to find a way to strip out a lot of legacy code in order to focus on a leaner core feature set that makes ongoing maintenance and future development more tractable.
The MyElectricFlow app does need more work to fully replace some of the archived apps and that will be a priority in terms of ongoing work.
