Does lower heat curve allow ASHP run for longer periods?

Hey all

I’ve noticed that my ASHP is on and off throughout the day and this is due to the heat demand inside the house is less than needed. See my link

I’ve adjusted the degree minutes to 100 on my AroTherm and this has helped with longer runs between the on and off periods. My heat curve is currently set to 0.65 and is generally overshooting my 18 degrees I need most days due to solar gain.

Now in order to get longer runs should I lower the heat curve to say 0.55 or 0.5 or does it work like that?

Cheers all

The cycling you’re seeing is completely fine, especially at those temperatures. Lowering the heat curve will reduce your room temperature but will make the cycles themselves shorter - after all, you put less heat into the house so your heatpump has to run less often. It cannot reduce its output beyond the minimum and has to cycle, and with lower HC the cycles are shorter.
