How is the electricity monitored, with a ct clamp?
I have seen issues with these Shelly devices before but that is not to say you have anything wrong.
Who knows though with the equipment you are using to get your data.
It seems optimistic to me given the outdoor temperature but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true, just better than I can get and better than I have seen on any MID monitored Daikin.
8kW non quiet mode, 180L tank (back to back on wall with heat pump minimal pipe run) for comparison, ESPAltherma + Shelly EM, 22C outside temp, heating to 45C from 15C, 1.2kWh consumption.
Sorry - when I said 36° start, that was the temp on the MMI/Onecta. I realise that this is the temp wherever the temp sensor is, and that the water below that was likely much colder.
As the 4kW is a rebadged 8kW, it will still do 8kW in DHW mode, in non-quiet. As mine is in “more quiet” mode, it seems to be limiting the power output in DHW to under 5kW, hence why my cycle took so long. My max electricity power was only 1000W. This seems to have had a very positive effect on the COP, plus the high outside temp and max flow rate. My pipe run is around 8m total from pump to tank. All piped in 28mm then reducing T down to 22mm right where it enters the tank.
It used just over 1kWh. Electricity monitor is Shelly PRO EM50. They are supposedly very accurate. CT, yes. This doesn’t mean inaccurate though - you can get MID CT meters.
Interesting to hear what others are finding. Particularly the Daikin Althema 3 users.
I’ve been monitoring this daily.
Depending on start temp (can be typically anything from 25C to 45C) we get COPs of between 2.5 and 5 now the weather is warmer. Odd days it can be over 5.
Average since Feb 1st is 3.54. Def on the way up though as we head toward summer.
kWs input are beyween 1 and 3. Typically 2.
Always run at 1pm
This is from the MMI so granularity is what it is. Averages out over a season I expect..
This looks “better” Basically it’s same with my numbers now. Seems it’s extremely sensitive to start point and end point tank temperatures. I have exactly these numbers when I heat from ~40C to 55C, outdoor 20C.
Wonder if quiet mode has any impact on COP at the end ? Can you repeat test with same parameters but quiet mode on ?
