Daikin occasionally choosing to use Immersion for DHW

That’s pretty warm!

I think that’s the problem.

I’d try switching the DHW runs to cooler times - night if you only need a once a day hit.

I use Eco for better COPs. Takes a bit longer but..

Comfort worked fine for me with Madoka control, but I wanted to go Eco.

Hi yes had that issue too during April. Setting for turning off the heating also applies to the DHW unless another setting is adjusted.

Early afternoon is more convienient - I have solar and kids when with me tend to shower in the evenings. I’ll fiddle with settings a bit more, but yes looks like I will have to run at a different time.

Agree with the others : the HP won’t run when the air temp is above a set threshold.

I’ve recently moved my daily DHW run from 14.00 to 10.00 for this same reason.

Ah yes, understandable.

Have to wonder why these units in our temperate climates heat out. How would they fair in much hotter countries.

By replacing a circuit board you can make you EDLA unit into a EBLA that can cool as well as heat.

We have UFH and it would work cooling..

Would want solar / batteries mix to balance the cost though.

But not so good if the HP can’t take the heat to run during solar times..

I’ll do some more research about Altherma 3 working in hot countries..

Ha ha! I know HPs are versatile, but really? Typo for cool?

 fixt

Would have to change my user id to CookStig then

Good info. I didn’t know that. Will file that nugget away until we are out of warranty.

In the meantime, the heat-reflective coating on our south-facing windows is really proving its worth in the current sunny weather. The house feels quite cool.

I notice from the Installer manual that the operating Temp is given as -25 to 25 degrees for Heating, but -25 to 35 degrees for DHW. But it seems to cut out at 25 degrees anyway (as per the solution to this thread)? 35 degrees would be fine, rare for UK, but 25 degrees seems too low.

Had a look at the pertinent setting

Changed mine from 25 to 29°C.

It would go higher but we rarely get 29°C.

It says space heating. Couldn’t find a DHW equivalent..

Controller says the outdoor unit is at 25°C right now.

There’s a temp overrun setting currently at 4°C. Not sure if that plays in? It probably does, or it wouldn’t heat the water at all at 25 you’d think.

Let’s see

Yes, EBLA board is something to consider if the average temps / hot spells get even higher.

This house is well insulated and takes days to slowly heat up..

Running cooling on cheap night tariff would work I should think or solar..

As it is a couple of times a year for a few days we can handle. If it became like Central France / Spain / Greece then..

There is another setting - Pump outside range (breadcrumb [4.9], code [F-00], page 175 on the installer manual). What I found is that this was stopping DWH at the temp set, when I switched it to enabled, I got DWH.

The other setting may be the Overshoot? [9-04]. That sets how much LWT can overshoot the target LWT before the compressor shuts off. It is applicable for heating on milder days when the unit can’t modulate down to the required LWT so the LWT starts to rise.

Nice one.

I’ve returned my operation range temp to 25°C and set Pump outside range to enabled instead.

It would seem logical that either would work?

The temperature upper level allows for protection in very hot temperatures I guess.

Wonder what they set the EBLA to in hot climes in cooling mode? ‘Search mode on’

Will see what happens next heatwave
