Daikin Heat Pump controls

Hello again all,

My system ran great over last winter and it continues to do so,

My system is open loop, no low loss header etc. It’s underfloor heating throughout on one zone and I have no internal thermostats at all.

I want to add an internal temperature reference - so the system can maintain that. I was considering a Madoka control which is the one designed to go with the heat pump, but if I simply want an internal temperature reference - is there a simpler/cheaper third party option?

The Madoka just wires into the main MMI unit, I assume just on volt free contacts like a normal thermostat.

Cheers!

Afaik you can just use their simple thermostat rather than Madoka. Checkout the installer reference guide for your model but probably:

Room thermostat (EKRTWA, EKRTRB)

You can wire an external thermostat as an on/off signal but the HP can’t do any modulation based on that.

Madoka works on p1p2 bus, there are some open source modules for reading from this, not sure if they have done controls yet…

Cheers for that!

I assume this wires into the back of the MMI p1/p2 for monoblocs, which piggybacks off the p1/p2 signal from the heat pump outside?

Yes I think it can connect either location as it’s a bus protocol, but I’ve not played with it myself

Do you mind me asking what your pump is set to? Sample or continuous?
I want to run the same set up as yours but my water isnt circulating enough and I can feel some cold patches on the floor. I suspect due to the water not circulating fast enough
