I have a Daikin EDLA04E2V3 the system has been running reliably since May 2025 without issues, however yesterday I put the hot water on powerful mode to reheat the tank and noticed that I could not hear the circulation pump running.
My flow temp increased to 65°C in this time, given that the circulation pump still was not running I stopped the pump and power cycled it. It all behaved following this however was wondering if this has seen by anyone else before.
There are no errors showing and I checked the actuator outputs and HMI was showing that the circulation pump was not running. I only have the pump in the outdoor unit. There’s no other pumps in my system
If the data in EmonCMS.org is yours for that period, then something was making water flow! Just click on Show Details and you can select to display the flow rate - looks maxed during DHW run, and the compressor was running rather than the immersion heater.
There appears to be an error with the flow meter around 17.40 - is that the bit you’re talking about? Apologies. Do you know the time you switched to Powerful DHW? Was it likely in the middle of the heating period shown before that?
Apologies, the above does not show it as a DHW cycle (even though this is what I had requested the heat pump to do at 17:26) The point where there is a data error the flow was at 15 l/min initially then at 17:38 the pump stopped running but the compressor continued as there was still a power draw of >1kW from the heat pump and the measured flow temp inside the monoblock increased above the normal limit of 60°C for this R32 unit.
The subsequent DHW run began correctly at 18:10 after I turned the unit off using the breaker as it was not responding to any input via the HMI and I was concerned that damage would occur if it continued running without the circulation pump.
Yeah I can see that was pretty scarey!! Good spot. I haven’t heard of that before, nobody I can recall has reported it. Might be worth a call to Daikin or your installer/maintenance people.
