Consumption in kWh?

Probably a silly question, but I’m trying to use the online data to get a rough idea of the energy consumption of a similar-sized heat pump/house in a similar location.

When I look at the Monthly electricity consumption data, here for example, it says it’s in kW, not kWh, is that correct? So, in Dec the heatpump consumed 387 kW?

Yes that is correct, good spot, those charts really need units!

So the data is in kWh?

Yes sorry, electricity consumption and heat output is kWh, elec mean and heat mean are Watts

ok makes sense, thanks for clearing that up!

It can be a bit confusing, this may further clafify things.

Power is measured in kW.

Energy is measured in kWh

Energy, kWh = power, kW X runtime in hours. or kW = kWh/hours

So, if it ran for say a total of 240 hrs, then the average HP power was 387/240, 1.61kW.

And I would add, be very careful of people, particularly those from the media, who don’t know the difference between power and energy and habitually (it seems) get it wrong.
