Hi,
try to find someone with a similar issue…
My openevse has been working fine for the last 10 months. A couple of days ago it 's not charging anymore, it’s detecting the car whether it’s connected or not but the car is not charging.
Sometimes the car I’m getting communication error, but not always, but it’s not charging anyway.
I tried measure continuity between the pilot pin from the charger to the handle and at least there is signal. I cannot hear the relay anymore, it could be the issue? for testing the relay i would need to unmounted from the wall, is there any check i could do to figure it out the issue?
Thank you in advance.
The car is a tesla, i’m going to try with a different car to see if any difference. The car is charging properly in a public charger, so I’m guessing it’s not the car.
Ok, I think I know what’s going on… I tried a different car in my charger and it was charging ok…so i thought the issue needs to be between the charger and my tesla.
After looking the handle properly, the pilot pin had some sign of corrosion, probably from humidity, the charger is outdoor.
I’ve been cleaning that pin in the handle with isopropy alcohol and with a small filler I’ve removed a lit bit the corrosion and now at least it looks the car start charging and it’s not giving me that communication error.
So i will keep an eye on it and if it still keep failing probably i will need to replace that pin in the handle.
In my tesla the pilot pin is slighter shorter than the other pins, so maybe the connection is not the best…
