They might understand in a year or two’s time when they start charging for the data. 
(It’s happened before with other “free” services).
Yeah I could see that happening, especially where our power company is a traded company. There’s gonna be a point where they need another source of revenue to maintain that never ending growth that’s expected by shareholders
