Not strictly OE monitor stuff but I am cheekily canvassing experts in hardware as that what many of you guys are.
The woes of bluetooth on the Pi3B are well versed !! My specific issue is that the bluetooth hardware is failing , I dont even get a /dev/hci0 after a while, all is ok for a few days then it all fails and the only fix is to warm-reboot. I also bought a suped up power supply from the PiHut but that failed to improve things either.
I have attempted many SW fixes such as patching the kernel, disabling SAP, automating reload of kernel drivers and restart of bluethooth service … nothing works.
I’ve a lot of Wifi 2.4 devices nearby and of course having the 2.4 band on the SoC with the Bluetooth on the Pi isnt a great hardware design choice given the interference issues.
So I am considering disabling the onboard bluetooth (not sure if that is possible but I will look into it) and use a USB dongle instead perhaps with a cable so that it can be a few feet away fro the Pi.
Has anyone done this and can recommend a USB device please.
