Balancing Radiator Output

With my heat pump system I have left all the TRV’s open as seems to be the recommendation. I have a room that is not used very often so want to reduce the temperature in the room. Thinking, if I close the TRV or lock shield, this will reduce the heat, however, this will stop the flow to the other radiators. If this radiator is at the start of the radiator layout this would mean the other radiators will also be cold. I always thought that there was a bypass pipe under a radiator so if you closed off the radiator the water would flow through this bypass pipe to feed the other radiators. Have I got this wrong and there is still a way for water to bypass the closed down radiator?

Radiators are usually plumbed so that turning off one radiator would not affect the others, usually by connecting each radiator to two pipes. Even and old “one pipe” system would allow for one radiator to be turned off.

I don’t think you need to worry
