Anyone with experience of Adia Thermal Heat Pump control system - especially their radiator balancing valves

I recently found out about Adia Thermal, who appear to be a relatively new company marketing a HP control system/smart radiator balancing valves/circulating pumps combo. I am thinking of using their system in a house we rent out, but I would also like to retrofit their smart radiator balancing valves in our own house.

The RBVs appear to be exactly what I would like. ie. rather than being fully open or fully closed, they adjust the flow continuously so that the temperature in each room matches the target for that room at that time.

Unfortunately they are not keen to sell the RBVs except as part of their whole system. Does anyone know if the RBVs are their own product, or whether they are rebranding another company’s hardware? Or are there other RBVs on the market (as distinct from traditional TRVs)?

Do they monitor flow and return temperature for each radiator?

As far as I’m aware, their valves are fully designed in house. They are clever guys @samskiter

Thanks for the info. I’ll try harder to persuade them to supply their RBVs for retrofit.

From what’s on their website, their system seems very well thought through. But if Glyn Hudson thinks they are clever, then that’s quite a feather in their cap!

I’m not sure, but I’ll try to find out.

I have 3 radiators in the lounge, and I think the most efficient control strategy would be for the RBVs to ensure the exit temperature from all 3 rads was the same.

I would just go for the FRVs from Firepower. The Adia system (while very clever), is just a way for installers to avoid doing calculations and reduce call backs. For any enthusiastic homeowner, the FRVs accomplish pretty much the same thing.

I installed them last year and have been extremely happy with them. The distribution of heat around the house is now perfect, and balancing the system now takes 5-10 minutes, and not hours/days like with traditional balancing.

I designed a calculator which helps you calculate the ideal flow rate for each radiator based on the rooms heat loss & radiator spec. The good thing is that it accounts for mismatched radiator sizing.

You can buy them from the openenergymonitor store:

And Glynn did a video about them which is on the tube:
