I have an Aira heat pump since Jan 2025 and am pretty pleased with it. But, only thing that bugs me is that I am unable to get good data that I can see on heatpumpmonitor. I used to see one Aira listed on the systems list, but even that’s not there as well anymore. Has anyone managed to get emon installed on their Aira heat pump.
We’ve had a few customers try and install independent metering on Aria systems. Aria has refused installation. This is a bit concerning since they use the onboard monitoring data to inform the performance guarantee, but resisting attempts to verify the accuracy of the onboard monitoring. Hopefully, someone will retrofit a heat meter onto an Aria system at some point. Onboard monitoring data from heat pumps is notoriously inaccurate, there’s lots of example of this on the forum.
Thanks Glyn. That’s exactly the reason I want to get external monitoring. For some days in the summer, the app says 0.3 kWh electricity consumed (which aligns with the smart meter and battery readings) but heat output says 1.2 kWh even when the 0.3 kWh has run as three 0.1 kWh spikes in different hours. Also, the hot water COP on the app is always more than heat output divided by electricity consumption. But, as we have 15 year warranty, conscious of installing something that the manufacturer might turn around and say, the warranty is null as you installed something.
While I’m not a lawyer, it’s your system, and you’re entitled to modify it. Legally, the installer or manufacturer must demonstrate that the heat meter directly caused the failure before they can deny a warranty claim. Given that a correctly sized meter won’t adversely affect system performance, I think they would have a very weak case.
