Adapting Open Vehicle Monitoring System for a new vehicle

I’m looking for a solution very similar to the OVMS for a custom vehicle build, how possible is it to take a default configuration and modify?

For example change the CAN messages it interprets for different stats, imagery etc.

This is possible, knowledge of c++ and CAN will be required. I would recommend looking at the OVMS developer web page: Developers | Open Vehicles
