With a DC output, it can’t be used to determine the phase relationship between voltage and current.
Hence it’s not usable for making real power measurements.
It could be used to make an approximate measurement of apparent power.
Given the electrical utilities bill us for real power, that’s the measurement most OEM users are interested in.
