New install trying to understand whats happening and why, Samsung gen7 R290

That’s normal operation for a Samsung! Daikin’s do this as well, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

This has all been fascinating to read. I’m having an 8KW Gen 7 installed in a couple of weeks with OEM heat pump monitoring and a homely controller installed. Can’t wait to tinker. (Installer’s worst nightmare)
Ian, I hadn’t seen yours come up on HPM before, but I’ve now bookmarked it and will be keeping an eye on it.

Hope you can play with my MQTT bridge to even deeper tinkering

@IRMartini I see you have the same model of heat pump as me, can I ask what PWM circulating pump you are using? I have a Grundfos UPS3 and am struggling to get it to work in PWM mode.

No problem, I’ll take a look as soon as I get home :+1:

Hi Martin, just a friendly reminder to check this (presuming you get home this evening)

Thankyou

Is that pump a PWM pump? Does it have additional PMW connection wires?

o

I thought only some model of Grundfos will work for PWM, this is my PWM pump:

Couldn’t tell you about where its wired into but it certainly acts like one:

Ah cool, great stuff. PWM is definitely working. That’s interesting that Wilo pumps can be used for PWM. Assuming that’s the primary pump on your system? Do you have a buffer tank? Is that pump on the heat pump side of the buffer tank?

Some versions of the Gen7 R290 have the primary pump integrated in the outdoor unit:

That is the only pump in my system, no buffer just a volumiser and there is no pump in the outside unit. my specific unit is: AE080CXYDEKEU

Great stuff, thanks for clarifying :+1:
