I was not saying that - not at all.

This is why I asked:

Again, it appears from what you said (and bear in mind I donā€™t know what you did), it was you who got it wrong. You mounted the meter alongside the existing breakers, and in doing so connected the meter directly to the busbar. This would have been dangerously wrong - youā€™d have no protection against a fault or overload.

What it appears he did was remove that section of busbar (so that the input side of the meter can accept a wire instead of sitting on the busbar, and connect the output (top) of the existing breaker into the supply side (bottom) of the meter, and the load side (top) of the meter to the pump.

So the power comes into your house to the Supply fuse ā†’ Supplierā€™s meter ā†’ Consumer unit main switch ā†’ busbar ā†’ breaker ā†’ new meter ā†’ heat pump.

Not quite. Itā€™s here (about 1 screenful from the bottom):

Hi Robert. For info, the SDM120 meters supplied by the shop in the hp bundle physically canā€™t sit on the bus bar - the terminals are only large enough for 4or6mm cables and there are both live and neutral terminals on the lower edge. The bus bar has to be cut away in order for the sdm120 to fit.

Ok Thanks, My head is not right at the moment so many things to do when moving house. Not had much time to sort all this out. probably should have left it for a month or two. I have just logged into the emonhub this morning for the first time and can see an error in the log "SDM120 Not connected to modbus device

I tried restarting the emonhub as I read on another thread but still get the same error

MBus and Modbus are different. I donā€™t know much about either, so check you have the correct Interfacer in emonHub, in the meantime letā€™s hope someone who knows more can help you.

Oh If you donā€™t Know, I havenā€™t got a hope in hell of getting this going!
I just havenā€™t got time to get to understand how it all works in detail.
I thought if I bought the kit it would just work! :upside_down_face:

I donā€™t mean nobody else here will know. Donā€™t just give up, I agree it should just work, so Iā€™m a bit baffled - from the error message seems to be indicating that the message format isnā€™t as expected - but itā€™s reading some values even if it canā€™t make sense of everything - hence my suggestion to check whatā€™s actually in the emonhub.conf file. As you sound desperate, Iā€™ll try to attract @TrystanLea or @glyn.hudsonā€™s attention.

Thanks

I do sound a bit desperate donā€™t I
Loads of things going wrong at the moment!
Everything is new and were getting lots of problems.
one of which isā€¦
My new solar and battery install (not done by me) is not working and the guys need to get Giv Energy on the line to initialise it But they canā€™t get them to answer.

This is a copy of my config:

Hi Again.
as Far as I can tell everything is working and I am digging into creating a dashboard ( Iā€™m using the preconfigured one at the moment) But I still donā€™t know what that error means . I have emailed the help desk at the shop. But not had a reply yet.
Thanks
