All OpenEVSE and EmonESP units we have ever shipped (until July 2020) contained an ESP8266 WiFi module running OpenEVSE WiFi 2.x firmware. This WiFi module has now been superseded by the ESP32 WiFi module running OpenEVSE WiFi 3.x firmware.
