Troubleshooting EmonTH - no data today

Last night I setup an emonTH with a new emonhub on an RPi 3 running the emonhub SD Card image.

I did receive some transmissions last night, but this morning when i powered the Pi back on I don’t get anything.

  • The batteries in the emonTH are new and last night were showing SOC at 3.1v
  • The emonTH led lights up initially and then flashes every 60s
  • Looking at the log, emonhub seems to be interfacing with the RFM69pi fine. (log below)

What else might I do to troubleshoot?

Thanks

Rob

I don’t yet have the emonTH but not to sure it can ‘stock’ data locally, you have to let emonhub active.
Basically it takes measures and sends data directly to emonpi or emonbase …
Guess you’ll have to keep the pi running 24/24 7/7

taken from the shop description

Data from the emonTH is transmitted via wireless RF (433MHz) to an emonPi / emonBase web-connected base-station for logging to Emoncms for data logging, processing and graphing.

Is there a corresponding LED flash on the RFM69Pi to match the emonTH’s sends?

How old is the emonTH? Was it previously working? What was your previous setup or is this your first?

Do you have any emonhub.log you can show us for when the emonTH was being received?

As far as I know, no data is retained in the emonTH (or emonTx for that matter - except for the “…ACK” sketches which retain it until receipt is acknowledged or the number of retries allowed is exceeded). It is transmitted immediately it has been collected and if the transmission fails, it is lost.

Hi sorry for the confusion.

I did not expect the emonTH to retain data whilst the pi was off, The problem was that when I turned the pi back on this morning, it was not receiving any current transmissions from the TH.

Incidentally, after power cycling the Pi a few times, it has started working again.

close this topic for now then.

Thanks for your input in any case.
