Sunshine Hours - Where to get data? Octopus Agile automated script

Hi guys,

Im running 5 x Pylontech US2000 batteries and a Sofar ME3000 battery inverter. I changed over to Octopus Agile recently and want to make best use of the cheap rates during the night.

I have a few scripts running on the pi that set the inverter to charge the bank between 1am and 4am. I currently manually set a target SOC% based on the sunshine duration the following day. It seems to be pretty accurate; 6.7hrs of sunshine and I make between 6.5 - 7.0kWh from the solar.

I want to automate this process but cant find a weather source with a sunshine hours forecast. Any suggestions. I tried metrogroup (the data source for the app WeatherPro) but I cant find any useful information.

Hello Ben,

Are you looking for the number of daylight hours, or an actual forecast of cloud-free hours?

Have a look at https://solcast.com - it might provide what you are looking for. You can sign up for a free account and they then provide short term forecasts.
