Hi,

Is there a change in SD card size for emonSD-01Feb24 as I have a 16Gb card but etcher says it is too small. However emonSD-21Jul21 works OK.

I don’t know - but you don’t _ **need** _ a card of the size that the SD image _appears_ to be made from/for.

It’s tortuous and while 8 GB and for that matter 16 GB cards are hard to find, I can’t understand why the image has to be made for a specific size of card, as it’s a whole lot easier to expand the image than shrink it. Here’s what I did - it was on a Staff-only topic: I followed from the heading: Shrinking images on Linux to the bottom. Where it states: Now notice a few things: There is one partition. The partition alloc…

But… looking quickly at Argos, they don’t list anything smaller than 32 GB. The last time I looked, I think 16 GB were more expensive than 32.

Thanks,

this is what etcher shows when trying a 16Gb card for the emonSD-01Feb24 image

but it will flash the emonSD-21Jul21 image OK with no problem using the same card.
I will try a 32Gb card and see if that is OK and then as you say possibly expand the data partition after flashing.

Update

Flashed image emonSD-21Jul21 to 32Mb card all OK
Extended the partition all OK
Put the card into Emonpi and booted all OK
Updated from existing card all OK
Updated Emoncms version all OK

Now running emonSD-21Jul21 image and 11.7.4 🙂

Fully happy till I break it again ☹

Thanks to @TrystanLea and @Robert.Wall for your help 🙂
John
