# Homely heat pump controller and compatible heat pumps

the [Homely heat pump controller,](https://www.homelyenergy.com/) which seems to be game changing technology but which only works with certain Modbus compatible heat pumps. Having seen @glyn.hudson excellent video on [installing his Samsung unit](https://community.openenergymonitor.org/t/samsung-5kw-gen-6-air-source-heat-pump-installation-with-monitoring/21254) (great tube bending Glyn!), perhaps Samsung would be a good choice? (and their new Gen 7 R290 looks attractive).
