Filter by house type?

Hi there

This is a wonderful resource and my heartfelt thanks to the developers and everyone contributing their data.

Through my work, I deliver training and advice on heat pumps. One pushback I often get is “wouldn’t work in my house” - while I can model options, I think nothing really convinces people like in-use performance data.

The data about your home is a bit hidden in ‘summary’ at the moment from what I can see. Do you know if there’s any way to filter by house type - detachment, insulation level, age, floor area? It would be a really useful feature if it exists.

Thanks!
Joanna

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

There isn’t yet a proper feature to filter on specific house type, though there are plans to add it at some point.

In the meantime you can go to the Heatpump + Fabric view which shows info about the properties. You can then sort on a column (e.g. Age or Floor area).

You can also use the Filter box in the top corner to show only systems that match, though it is a little hit-and-miss sometimes. For example:

  • detached (which includes semi-detached)
  • terrace (include mid- and end-terrace)
  • solid walls, some insulation, cavity wall, fully insulated or Passivhaus
  • ages: Pre-1900, 1900, 1940, 1983, 2012

Unfortunately there’s no way to combine filters, which would certainly be useful to add. Maybe you can get some reasonable results with the filter together with column sort.

Here are 7 systems with solid walls, sorted by floor area:

Click on the “Add fields” button on the left to add more columns to the table.

Hope that helps

Ah very cool, thanks for sharing how I can access that view and filters. Thanks also for raising some of the example descriptions - I’ll keep this in mind.

I’ll have a play around and continue letting people know about this site. If there’s any additional filter or view features that can be made to help people easier compare in their own circumstances, I’m sure it would be a hugely beneficial addition.

Thanks again for your advice.
