We are thrilled to announce that the **emonPi3** and **emonTx6** are now officially available in our shop! 🥳

These models succeed the emonPi2 and emonTx5. While they maintain the same functional experience, they feature a significant microcontroller architecture upgrade under the hood (Microchip ATSAMD21J17). This shift provides a more robust, future-proof platform with improved configurability.

A huge thank you to the team who made this happen:

- **Hardware Design:** @awjlogan
- **Firmware:** @awjlogan @FredM67
- **Testing & QA:** @Robert.Wall, @borpin, and @rupert

## Brief System Overview

## emonPi3

- 6-channel AC electricity monitor using [clip-on CT sensors](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/ct-sensors/) and an [emonVS voltage sensing power supply](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/emonvs-power-supply-uk-plug/) (single & 3-phase) .
- Integrated Raspberry Pi running [Emoncms](https://github.com/emoncms/emoncms) for local data logging and visualisation
- Optionally post to our [cloud Emoncms.org](https://emoncms.org) server.
- Receive RF data from other wireless nodes e.g [emonTH wireless temperature & humidity sensor](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/emonth-temperature-humidity-node/) and emonTx on 433.92 MHz\*
- Support for multiple [wired DS18B20 sensors](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/encapsulated-ds18b20-temperature-sensor-3m/)
- [Home Assistant Integration](https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/emoncms/)

_\* By default, the emonPi3 & emonTx6 use the 433.92 MHz ISM band, this is not backwards compatible with our existing hardware which use the 433.0 MHz band. However, it’s possible to update the firmware on existing hardware e.g emonTH2 and emonTx4/5 to use the new 433.92 MHz frequency or set the emonPi3 & emonTx6 to 433.0 MHz._

## emonTx6

- Wireless expander node
- Expand an emonPi3 system with an additional 6-channels of AC electricity monitoring (single & 3-phase)
- Either share a single emonVS voltage sensing power supply with an emonPi3 using a [splitter](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/emonvs-rj45-duplicator/?searchid=54557&search_query=RJ45) or use a 2nd emonVS if emonTx is in different location
- Transmit data to emonPi3 via 433.92 MHz wireless or direct USB connection
- Support for multiple [wired DS18B20 sensors](https://shop.openenergymonitor.com/encapsulated-ds18b20-temperature-sensor-3m/)
- [ESP Home Integration](https://esphome.io/components/sensor/emontx/) with Home Assistant\*\* thanks to @FredM67

\*\* emonWiFi hardware coming soon to support easy ESP Home HA Integration.

To note, the emonTx6 will work as a standalone device with the emonWiFi board or even directly connected to a suitable device by USB to read the serial data (e.g. using `emonhub`).

Whilst the emonWiFi will utilise ESPHome for its firmware, there is no requirement to have or use Home Assistant. The emonTx6/emonWiFi combo can communicate with any suitable HTTP or MQTT endpoint as well as Home Assistant. These endpoints can all be used simultaneously in any combination.

**Firmware update available**

I’ve just released v1.1.1 (nb. if you’ve got v1.1.0, please discard it!). It can be [downloaded](https://github.com/openenergymonitor/emon32-fw/releases/tag/v1.1.1) from Github. There’s a change log [available](https://github.com/openenergymonitor/emon32-fw/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md), and edited highlights below:

- Add support for auxiliary analog input on OPA3.
- Countdown for safe power down of Raspberry Pi.
- Minor bug fixes and improvements.
