EmonPi LCD custom message?

Hello.
Since the Emonpi LCD is not in use most of the time, I was thinking of using it for different purposes (like showing current Main power, …). So there is my question, if it is possible to send custom messages to the Emonpi LCD (and light it up). Maybe via mqtt, that would be really nice

I found out by myself. There is an LCD example at /opt/openenergymonitor/emonpi/lcd/lcd_test.py
