emonHP not talking to Tx and Th

Any bright ideas why my emonHP has stopped talking to some devices in the house, but not others?

In this case, I’ve had someone working in the cupboard where the emonHP is on the ASHP (on water stuff, not electrical), and have had a few other issues since… I’m trying to assume good faith that they haven’t done anything, and it’s conincidental that things are having issues.

Maybe my electrics are just upset because other reasons atm (one of my air con units was similarly upset and needed restarting)…

It had been off for a couple of days, until I noticed it last night. I did reboot the emonTx.

I’ve now shutdown (full power off) the emonHP and rebooted the emonTx. It seems to have restored some communication for a bit, but then it’s been off again for a few hours.

It’s talking to one emonTx fine… But when it’s not talking to a Th and a Tx, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s those devices.. But when the HP is talking to a Tx, doesn’t seem to suggest it’s only the emonHP either.

Hi Sam,

I can see that data from the emonTx is being received via your emonHP so the RFM must be working fine. Data from the emonTH stopped 15hrs ago, maybe try restarting the emonTH and moving it closer. There should be no reason why it’s not updating.

Maybe check the antenna is property screwed onto the emonHP? Has anything been moved around in the cupboard which may affect the signal?

Thanks for checking! Did you do/poke anything particularly?

Note there are 2 Tx attached, one is a 12 port 3PH one, the other is a 6 port 1PH.

EmonTx4DB_rf1_28 says 15 hours. EmonTx4DB_rf2_29 is showing 17 mins.

Then emon_DB_6CT_1phase_27 is < 1 minute.

Two large metal towel radiators (in boxes) are in the cupboard, but have been there for months. They were moved out for the work to be done, and back in, obviously not in the exactly the same location…

I guess big sheets of metal at the “wrong” angle could cause problems.

I can move those completely out of the way and see if that helps.

Thanks for being my rubber duck

Yup, moving the big sheets of metal solves it immediately.

Well, moving one big sheet was enough, even…

No. Glad you got it sorted!
