Hi everyone,
I’m having a strange issue with my Daikin EDLA06E2V3 heat pump (link to system: HeatpumpMonitor.org). It’s currently in holiday mode, meaning both heating and hot water are supposed to be disabled. However, I’ve noticed via my smart home system that the heat pump appears to be active, circulating water even though it shouldn’t be. The house isn’t being heated, and it’s not particularly cold outside.
I’ve attached some pictures,1 slows the flow temp leaving,1 shows external temp and 1 shows pump speed, for reference.
I’m confused as to why the system would be running at all in holiday mode. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it? Could a faulty sensor or control board be the culprit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan, welcome to the forum!
I’m not familiar with Daikins, but I would guess that this is the heat pump keeping the pipes from freezing. From your charts, the outside temperature has dropped below 5°C, which is when heat pumps will typically engage this sort of maintenance. Not something to be concerned with.

Yes, my thoughts also. Freeze protection starts quite high, 7c I think, to prevent the automatic dump valves from emptying the system of water. It should consume minimal energy though.
Thanks all for taking a look.
7c seems about ott but like you said, it’s minimal power.
I’ll get back into my lurking hole.
