Has anyone else been experiencing difficulties getting their heatpump installed due to backlogs from vaillant? Currently we’re a month late getting ours installed and the installer ordered it about 2 months ago.
spoken with vaillant and they are unable to give approximate eta, despite promising they would do the best they can to move things along…
just trying to get an idea of the “length” of peoples delays, as I’ve checked most plumbing merchants in our local area and none have stock.. a couple have “time” estimates of December! Normally I wouldn’t be bothered, but we have no boiler at all as it was removed during a renovation.. so no heating at all currently .. which is ok atm but with winter looming, a small cause for concern…
Yes, I’ve heard Vaillant has short supply currently because of high demand. Numerous installers have mentioned this. You might have more luck with other manufacturers. Or just wait, it’s probably a temporary issue because of the time of year on the recent BUS grant increase.
Plenty of other manufacturers out there, that perform well and are readily available. Why limit yourself to Valiant? System design is way more important than the heat pump manufacturer.
Veering slightly off topic now, but I’d say that Vaillant are in the sweet spot of excellent UK after-sales service, parts and support infrastructure, good control algorithm (degree-minutes, minimising oversizing risk), excellent third-party support for integrations, monitoring etc (Havenwise, eBUS adapters), cooling support with integrated dew-point monitoring… and, of course, efficiency and build quality.
If I was buying new now, I wouldn’t really consider any other manufacturer… save for perhaps Viessmann now that their new models don’t need a huge indoor unit.
But your are paying a premium price, so really should get those benefits. If you weren’t getting a grant, would you actually spend that amount yourself - I certainly wouldn’t and didn’t.
They may have cooling support but it’s only active when you add optional extras, which cheap if you DIY (possibly can delete your warranty) but stupid cost direct from manufacturer.
For me, the ongoing benefits are worth the one-time cost uplift. Knowing that the 7-year warranty actually counts for something, with a load of Vaillant-branded vans driving around and good parts availability, is important to me. Especially after reading some horror stories about after-sales support with other manufacturers…
Good points, but not sure I ever seen a Vaillant van in NE Scotland in the last 30 years I lived here - so maybe a regional thing. Looked at the installers locally and they are just multi brand installers, so not sure how the warranty would work there.
So suspect it is worth doing your own research before choosing or letting an installer choose for you.
Checked with our local branch which is showing 2 “available”. Both are apparently earmarked for other jobs and not actually available to purchase. Which is rather frustrating tbh - why show they are available when they actually aren’t!
